Company Update

We may have been very quiet on the website front but we have been very busy behind the scenes.

We are working with new clients, architects and surveyors and have several new contracts, all extremely different in design and in a variety of stunning locations throughout Perthshire. Our team has grown and we have expanded to other trades and are delighted to have taken on 5 apprentices for the start of this college year. There are some exciting new career opportunities within the Projects team.

Behind the scenes, we have changed our name to AGB Scotland Limited to reflect our growth and the services we offer and we are currently planning our office move towards the end of this year to a new, larger, refurbished base at Bankfoot.

With that in mind, rather than updating our current website, we are working on a new one which we will launch to reflect our development and branding.

Business Growth Award

AGB - Business Growth AwardWe’re thrilled to have been awarded the Business Growth Award at the recent Business Star Awards run by Perthshire Chamber of Commerce.

We enjoyed our inaugural Perthshire Chamber Awards Dinner at Crieff Hydro with nominations as finalists in two categories.  Graham Borrie narrowly missed out on the Employee of the Year Award but his place as a finalist was well-deserved amongst tough competition.

These prestigious business awards recognise first class local businesses and individuals who make a real contribution to economic growth through innovation, excellence and the commitment of its people.  With the tension mounting, as AGB were announced the winner of the Business Growth Award, the elation at the table stood as testament to the dedication, hard work, talent and quality of our business and all our team.

“I am very proud of what AGB has achieved to date and I am relishing the challenges ahead to keep our company thriving, growing and developing, offering sustained and secure employment within our industry locally.” - owner, founder and Managing Director Allan Brown

‘Boost for rescue group’

AGB - Donation to Tayside Mountain RescueA Perth firm provided a boost for Tayside Mountain Rescue.

AGB, which operates out of Friarton Road, supplied the labour and equipment to uplift old gates from Tayside Mountain Rescue's premises at Blairgowrie - and then made a donation for the gates.

TMRA president Eric Drummond said: "We very much appreciate the donation from AGB for the removal of our gates which will go towards our funds."

AGB's managing director Allan Brown added:"AGB were delighted to assist in providing the necessary muscle to remove the old gates and to make a donation to a very worthy local cause."

‘The AGB Experience’

It isn’t often that construction companies receive glowing tributes. In these tough economic times, the focus is all too often on getting the job done quickly and moving onto the next. But over the past few years, AGB have been concentrating on strengthening relationships with our clients and delivering amazing bespoke homes.
Allan Brown, Managing Director says: “We realised early on that it’s about quality, not quantity. We take on contracts where we believe that we can deliver something special. But quality doesn’t just mean building stunning properties; it’s also about working with our clients to meet their precise needs, talking them through the build process, listening to them and in turn, building customer loyalty.”

The approach seems to be working and more and more we receive glowing testimonials from satisfied clients. We were extremely proud and flattered to receive the following feedback from Malcolm Flinn, owner and Director of  the Kenmore Hotel and Luxury Lodges:

The problems of dealing with builders and building projects in general are legendary and usually a good supply of aspirin is needed to carry one through to completion.

I have carried out projects in Europe, England but mostly Scotland. In the main most builders try to satisfy their clients but almost invariably there are problems in quality of finish, time, overspend etc unless you have the AGB experience.

AGB tendered on a small development of mine in Kenmore. There was a renovation of an old cottage and two new semi-detached cottages and with the added complication of being in a conservation area with a complicated problem with a historic wall. They were the chosen best tenderer but there was some initial nervousness as I had never dealt with the company before. They seemed very straightforward, honest and keen to finish the job to the highest standard ........ and ............. they did just that! The project was finished on time, on budget and to the highest quality. Any teething problem was immediately resolved and therefore I have no hesitation in recommending AGB. I would be happy for anyone to examine the quality of their work.

Finally........thank you AGB.”

RAF Control Tower Project

AGB are delighted to announce that we have recently won a contact to convert a RAF control tower into a stunning, eco-friendly home. The derelict RAF control tower is an iconic structure at Errol Airfield which had fallen into disrepair. The building has a special place in history going back over seventy years. During the Second World War the farm at Errol Airfield was subject to a compulsory purchase order under the Defence of the Realm Act. It was commissioned as RAF Errol No 9 Pilot Advanced Flying Unit (PAFU) and remained in Operation until 1945. It housed the special No. 305 Ferry Training Unit, which trained Soviet crews before they received an order of 200 Armstrong Whitworth Albemarles.

Now back in the owner’s possession and with the Soviet aircrews long gone, the owners have decided to convert the building into a state-of-the-art home.

The new design will retain many features including all of the original watch office windows. The observation balcony will be re-instated to enjoy the spectacular views of the Fife hills beyond the River Tay. Made from contemporary stainless steel and glass construction, the balcony will be a stunning feature and is a key element of the build.

We’ll be sharing more photos of the build as it progresses so join our mailing list for updates.
